Ok, so I just read many of my old blogs . . . most of them about exercise! I have not exercised in many many months. Not good. As I read those old posts I hear my excitement about my achievements during the three years that I consistently exercised. I want that again, I can have that again!! I'm kinda tired of the rollercoaster . . . I hadn't been on it in a while but hopped on it almost a year ago. I must get off the rollercoaster and start getting healthy, yet again! I can do it!! I've got to!!

Lifestyle Change!
Went to the doctor Tuesday for weigh in and check up! I'm supposed to go once a month and I was until February. I had an appointment for February but the doctor had to cancel so we rescheduled for March, the snow and ice got in the way that time, so we cancelled again. I really didn't think I'd lost any and actually thought I might have gained some. Well . . . I lost 4 pounds!! My total weight loss to date is 33 pounds!! I've gone down 3 sizes in clothes! The best part about it all is I feel so much better and I'm developing a much better lifestyle as far as my eating habits and exercise goes! I've also been working on developing a stronger, more consistent relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!! He is so faithful and takes care of me always, yet I tend to "doubt" Him. Why? I don't know!! I love Him and am so thankful He loves me and NEVER leaves me!! Thank you, Jesus!

Here I am, again!
Here I am, again! But it's good! The ups and downs of life can certainly lead you to be uncertain at times and totally "on it" at times! I am so thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ!! I really don't know where I'd be without Him and I certainly don't want to find out! He is so good no matter how many times I "try" to loose weight or begin/continue exercising.
I can honestly say, I look forward to exercising now, this did not happen overnight! As a matter of fact it has taken about 2 1/2 years. My first blog post was Thursday, April 19, 2012. That's the first day I stepped foot on Rushing road for walking/running. I have been consistant at times, and not, at other times. I stopped for about 3 months and then got back at it, which is where I am now. I began a weight loss program 3 weeks ago today and I've lost 7.6 lbs!!
Bob, my husband, has been there with me through the ups and downs of this process. This is definitely an up right now and I'm confident it is leading me to a lifestyle change! That is the difference for "this time", a lifestyle change!!! I have a group of friends who are holding me accountable for exercising and that is helping as well!!
Stay tuned . . .

Physical Therapy
Well, since the first of the year (really since I started running), I had been having issues with my left thigh and groin area. I finally went to the doctor to get checked out. When in was ten I was diagnosed with scoliosis. I have a "C" curve so the doctor gave me some exercises to do. I'm pretty sure I didn't do them very long. Any way, fast forward a few years :) my doctor decided to send me to PT. I've had 10 therapy sessions with 2 more to go then we will re-evaluate. I'm doing pretty good, hopefully I'll be able to start running again. If you've seen my Run Keeper posts you've seen that I'm walking again. Part of me thinks I'm going backwards but the other part just sees a set back.i hope to be running again soon. We'll see!!!

Back in the Saddle!
Happy NewYear, I hope you are all well and ready for a new year, I am! We have been on vacation from exercise for the last week and a half! We were just supposed to be off Monday and Tuesday of the last two weeks but the weather and power outage changed that a little. Anyway, we got back in the saddle today. As a reminder, we do boot camp type workouts on Monday and Wednesday and we run/walk Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Today Forrest asked us if we keep a journal. I remembered that I started blogging when I started exercising, so I decided I should get back to it.
We did some things today that we've been doing but as I look back I remember when I couldn't do as many or I couldn't do them as long as we did today. That's progress!!! Even though we took a break it didn't set us back as much as I thought it would. Let me clarify, we didn't go at it full force but we didn't have to start back at square one! I'm proud of us. Tomorrow will be the first day to run, I hope it will be as fruitful as today.
Monday night at our church's New Year's Eve party Forrest asked if we set any goals for 2013. I didn't say anything, later, Bob asked me why. My answer was basically because if I set a goal I need to keep it . . . well, duh!!!!! That's what a goal is! When I started exercising consistently in March of 2012, my goal was to get back into a size 10. I didn't set a time frame, so I think for 2013 that will be the goal, to get back into a size 10 by the end of the year. I have lost 17 pounds since I've been exercising and I ran my first 5K, I'm very proud of those accomplishments and know I can continue to improve on that!
So, stay tuned, I will continue to post my progress!! Until I post again, have a great day, I'm praying you will!

65 Hours Without Power!
Our power went out at 5:00 Christmas night. We were watching "We Are Marshall", we had only been watching it about 15 minutes so we weren't very far into it yet. Little did we know it would be 65 hours before we could finish it!
We have a gas heater for such times as a power outage, so we fired it up, we pulled out our flashlights, candles and lanterns. We rearranged the living room to make room in front of the heater for our "beds". We got out the cards and portable table and set up "camp"!! We were warm, comfortable and had entertainment!
We woke up the next day, power still out, so we decided we should do something to keep our food in the refridgerator from spoiling. We got all of our ice chests and filled them with everything in the fridge and then filled them with snow!! We had some hamburger meat so I decided to cook a meal on the grill (our stove is electric). I cooked hamburgers, corn, green beans and tomatoes and onions, it was wonderful!
We were able to stay warm, nourished and safe for the 65 hours we were without power.
As I look back on it, I realize several things. We take so many things for granted, like when we flip the switch on the wall the lights will come on; or when we change the temp on the heater the heat will come on; that our family will always be around and play cards or games with me when the power is out for 65 hours! I learned that I can do without a lot of "things" but not God or my family!
I am thankful that God has blessed us with a church family who provides us with a home to keep us warm and sheltered! I will be more aware of what I have each time I flip a switch or stay warm!! Thank you God!

Cartwheels!
One of my goals in all of this has been to do a cartwheel again! Guess what?? Today I did two, woohoo, it was so exciting!!!! I'm sure they were not pretty but they were full on cartwheels!! I know I would have hurt myself if I had tried it back in April! My next goal is the splits, today I was more than halfway there!! Just sayin!
